It takes almost 25 instances of my most stupidly memory intensive plugin (Shreddage 3 Hydra) to get a max-out error. Well I got the 8gb model and for the life of me I cannot make the thing lag for a single second lmao. I suppose 16GB will give you peace of mind and you'll have less memory pressure (less paging), but in my experience this 8GB model handles every project I can throw at it with absolute ease. Even taking the most complex project I have, I can copy/paste every track 3X and it still handles it without even breaking a sweat and at this point I'm dealing with hundreds of tracks and loads of plugins. I simply cannot bring this thing to its knees with my projects. Furthermore the HD meter on the performance meter barely blips. My base model M1 Mini with 8GB Ram can handle 106. There's a sort of unofficial benchmark out there which has a bunch of tracks that have Sculpture tracks, each with a host of pretty hefty plugins (multi-band compressor, reverb, etc) and the idea is to see how many of these tracks you can run simultaneously before you get a system overload.ДЇor context, my fully decked out 2015 MBP w/16GB RAM can handle around 32 on a good day. I purchased an M1 Mini base model with 8GB RAM just for testing and I'm having no problems at all, even with the most complex projects that would constantly cause system overloads in my 2015 MBP w/16 GB RAM when I didn't freeze tracks. Hope this kind of post is okay here and really appreciate any feedback.

So the M1 already seems like overkill in that respect? But then again I am still running Logic 9 with a couple of 32 bit plugins so I have no idea how demanding the new version is lol. When I upgraded it from 8 to 16 I noticed basically zero difference in my projects.

Will the new Mac mini with 8gb of ram do the job? From what I've seen, it doesn't seem like Logic will use the extra ram at all, but I don't want to buy this thing and then end up with a giant paperweight in like 3 years or something cuz I can't upgrade it lol.ДЇor reference, I am upgrading from a 2011 MBP with 16 gigs of ram, and can already do pretty much everything I want without maxing out the CPU bar since I constantly bounce anyways. Literally never going to use this for a single other thing than Logic, it won't even be connected to the internet most of the time.
